Internet Safety

I am still spending a significant amount of time removing Malware/viruses on many of my customers computer systems.

The current most prevalent problems belong to the "Crypto" family and when your computer is infected your files are encrypted and need to be restored from a backup. Unfortunately, if you have your backup drive plugged in and you get a "Crypto" malware attack, your backup files also get encrypted and are useless. This type of Malware typically comes via a link in an email which looks like it comes from AGL, Australia Post, Office of State Revenue etc. These emails have been "Socially Engineered" to fool the user. The best defense against this type of infection is to "Think Twice and Click once".
